6 Self-Care Tips That Will Change Your Mental Health

Self-care doesn’t only mean getting facials and taking a warm bath. It also means showing love to yourself by caring for your mind and soul. When you practice self-care often, you’ll start to see its benefits in your everyday life and your future self. Read along for 6 self-care tips that will change your mental health!

Practice your habits and routines

    • Staying consistent with your daily habits and routines is a great way to improve your mental health! Everyone is different, so take some time to figure out what works for you and what will be beneficial in your daily routines. This may take a while, and that’s okay! It’s all about trial and error. Once you find what works, consistency and commitment are key so that when you’re feeling off, your routines will help balance you.

Listen to your emotions

    • We’re not happy all the time, and it's important to stop feeling guilty for whatever it is we’re feeling! Recognize, acknowledge, and accept your emotions - we feel the way we feel because our bodies and minds are trying to tell us something. If you’re sad, angry, jealous, etc. try sitting down with your emotions and writing out why you’re feeling that way so you can begin to move on.

Get enough sleep

    • We all need sleep to properly function. When we’re tired, we feel unmotivated and less productive. Leading to negative moods and emotions. Since everyone needs different amounts of sleep depending on a multitude of factors, try to find the sweet spot of how many hours you need to perform your best!

Protect your energy

    • The people that surround us and the activities we do have a great impact on our mental health. If you feel that someone continually brings your mood and energy down, consider taking a step back from your relationship with them or setting some healthy boundaries. If there are activities that don’t make you feel your best, consider staying in and hanging out with a friend instead.

Take time for yourself

    • Don’t feel guilty for saying no or taking time to yourself! You know you better than anyone and it’s important to prioritize what you need at the moment. Try to schedule some self-care into your calendar each week. It could be a warm bath, a massage, a solo date night, etc.

Always look for ways to grow

    • Self-care means always looking for ways we can continue to grow into better humans. Take a look at your life and see what is serving you and what is not. We are always evolving so remember that it is okay if something you used to love is not serving you anymore.
