How to Unwind Before Bed
Getting a good night of rest is the first step in preparing yourself for a positive and productive day. However, getting proper sleep is a challenge for many people. I have found that my routine to prepare and unwind before bed significantly contributes to how well I sleep. I have taken time to find a routine that works best for me and wanted to share in an effort to help you find what may work well for you!
Step 1: Turn your phone on “Night Shift” mode to minimize blue light 1-2 hours before bed. You can also use bluelight glasses to minimize exposure to blue light before bed.
Step 2: When it is time for bed, switch your phone to “Do Not Disturb” to minimize any disruption while you sleep.
Step 3: Turn on a sound machine to promote a calming and relaxing sleep environment.
I use the HoMedics Portable White Noise Sound Machine. Sound machines mask the sound of the noises and environment around you promoting a positive environment for undisturbed sleep.

Step 5: I like to enjoy herbal tea or my Beam Dream Powder while I take some time to reflect on my day by making a list of three good things about my day in a journal next to my bed. The practice of listing three good things encourages you to see things in a more positive light and is thought to increase your levels of happiness and gratitude.
