Showing Empathy For Other Women

As a woman, I strive to support other women in all aspects of life. Whether that be business, friendship, on social media, or anywhere else. I find that it is important for us to support and encourage each other. A topic that you asked I share about is how to show empathy to other women during trying times. I decided to address this topic with a list of three simple ways to show empathy through encouragement and support.

  • Send a thoughtful card or text

Sending a thoughtful message of encouragement, support, or understanding whether it be physically written in a card or through a text message can show more empathy than you may initially think. That small gesture that takes minutes for you can make a profound impact on someone else’s day. When writing a message, try to relate or show understanding to how they are feeling while also remembering to offer your support through what they are going through. This gesture costs nothing and shows tremendous empathy.

  • Send or drop off a special treat

Sending or dropping off a special treat to a friend or peer going through a hard time can turn their day around. Some of my go-to items are: coffee, flowers, cookies, a bath bomb, or a face mask. These little and relatively affordable items really show someone you not only are thinking about them and care about what they are going through but that you want to make sure they know they are loved and not alone.

  • Offer help and support

Offering to help and support someone goes a long way. When going through a tough time or hardship it is easy for things to fall to the side. Helping a friend with something small can put their day or week on a better track. Something small like vacuuming their house or folding their laundry may take you an hour but tremendously help them during a time that they are focusing on so much more. Offering someone peace of mind is one of the greatest gifts you can give and it costs nothing.

I hope you find these tips to be helpful and that you strive to support the women you surround yourself with!
