Tips For Eating Healthy On A Budget

Eating healthy, nutritious foods is an important part of your lifestyle that positively affects your mood and mental health! However when trying to eat more healthy, it can become frustrating to see how costly all the trendy items and routines can cost.

It is a common unsettling feeling to get sold on the great products or recipes you see advertised on social media then get to checkout and see how much these wonderful products can be. We wanted to share some budget friendly tips for a healthy lifestyle that anyone can stick to!

  • Plan your grocery list throughout your week:

    • Use the notes app on your phone to keep track of items you need or run out of at all times. You can even share this note with your partner so you can both add items. This way when you go to the grocery store you are only purchasing items you actually need rather than guessing or grabbing unnecessary items in the store!

  • Plan your meals in advance:

    • On Sunday mornings, look through your schedule for the week and take into consideration what you have going on, what you need, and what meals you will eat. Try to plan all of your meals accordingly to avoid excess food and waste.

  • Prep items in advance that you can use for multiple meals throughout the week:

    • After going to the grocery store, you can prepare as much of your food for the week as possible. For example, we like to prepare a large amount of shredded chicken for the week in the crockpot on Sunday. (If you have not shredded your chicken with a hand mixer before, try it and thank us later!) This way we can use the chicken throughout the week for different meals. We like to use the chicken for buffalo veggie wraps on Monday, taco bowls on Tuesday, hummus plates on Wednesday, and a fresh salad full of chicken and veggies on Thursday. This way you have a healthy staple prepared to make a variety of healthy meals throughout your week and it doesn’t break the bank!

We hope you can find these tips beneficial. Let us know which tip you find the most useful to your lifestyle!
