Sound Bath Meditation Therapy


I recently posted about a sound bath meditation session I attended at The Yoga Ritual and I received so many questions about it and my experience. So I figured I would share about it! 

The main question I received from a lot of you was asking what exactly a sound bath even is. A sound bath is an acoustic sound healing journey that relaxes the body, clears the subconscious, calms the mind, and activates your body's natural healing systems. These special instruments include crystal bowls, rainmakers, gongs, chimes, and more. This technique has been used for thousands of years and helps heal your cells at a molecular level. Sound Healing can be so effective because it influences our emotional bodies as well as our physical bodies. Different sound vibrations interact with our physical and energetic bodies in beneficial ways allowing the body to naturally heal itself. Immersing yourself into sound bath meditation has many benefits including - unlocking blocked emotions, relieving anxiety and stress, inducing complete relaxation, promoting deep meditation, relieving insomnia & physical pain, decreasing depression, and releasing emotional trauma.

Going into the session I had no idea what a sound bath entailed - I literally thought I was going to a yoga class. I was greeted with lavender essential oil (my favorite) and a face-down card that was to be flipped over at the end of class. The instructor walked us through what the class would look like and had us find a comfortable position lying down - which is where we would stay for the entirety of the session. We then laid down on our mats, eyes closed, and the music began. The sounds were so unique and special. The way the acoustics bounced off the walls was something I had never heard before. You could feel the vibrations deep within your body. I truly felt such a deep, calming sense of relaxation. Submitting your mind and body to the sounds and experience as a whole is what helped me receive the full effects of the session.

I would recommend this class to anyone and everyone! Making time to relax, rest, and recenter your body and mind is SO important!
